Loaisiga Infiel Maduro
The cigars of the Infiel brand are produced at the Tabacalera Loaisiga factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. We first got to know this city during our initial visit back in 2005, when we took our first apprentices there for a week, showing the "boys" exactly where the cigars they enjoyed so much actually came from. At that time, the population was around 40,000 people; only 20 years later, it has grown to over 100,000. This now relatively large city in northern Nicaragua is located near the border with Honduras, with which it shares the tobacco-growing region of Condega. The somewhat unusual name isn’t the creation of a highly paid creative agency but simply the surname of the owner and founder. For the Infiel cigar brand, Silvio Loaisiga has teamed up with his business partner José Antonio Ortega to create distinctive and innovative blends.
Infiel Cigars by Silvio Loaisiga: Handcrafted Quality from Estelí
Silvio previously worked for over 20 years at Perdomo Cigars, acquiring extensive knowledge in tobacco cultivation and cigar production. Like his mentor and teacher, Nick Perdomo, he chose to blend his cigars identically regarding the filler and binder, with the difference being "only" the wrapper. Exactly how much the wrapper contributes to the overall flavor is highly debated; however, it's widely agreed that it accounts for significantly more than 50%. Consequently, the Infiel Maduro cigars presented here, featuring a dark Mexican wrapper, are the most aromatic and robust of the three available varieties. For those seeking a medium-bodied alternative, the Infiel Sun Grown cigars are an excellent choice, whereas the lighter Infiel Connecticut cigars represent the mildest option. Since summer 2025, Loaisiga cigars, supported by Jordi Carrio (Feine Puros) and importer Kleinlagel, have also started conquering the German market.
Infiel Connecticut, Sun Grown, and Maduro in Detail
The Infiel series comprises three varieties differentiated exclusively by their wrappers: Infiel Connecticut impresses with mild, floral, and slightly woody notes, whereas the Infiel Sun Grown, featuring a darker Ecuadorian wrapper, offers bolder, medium-bodied aromas. The Infiel Maduro, with its Mexican San Andrés wrapper, provides the most intense experience of the series—spicy, aromatic, and ideal for lovers of stronger cigars. All variants contain finely aged Nicaraguan tobacco and are designed for cigar aficionados seeking something special.
