Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro

In 2021, the first cigars of the Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro series by Plasencia arrived. They are an evolution of the classic Alma Fuerte, wrapped in a light brown Colorado Claro wrapper. Recognizable by their dark green boxes and cigar bands, these cigars are mild to medium-bodied. These Nicaraguan puros are undeniably complex and offer aficionados a varied flavor profile, while being milder and creamier than the classic 2016 Alma Fuerte. Today, there are five different lines of Plasencia's Alma cigars, which have helped make the family famous as cigar manufacturers.

Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro: Gentle Evolution of Nicaraguan Cigar Artistry

The highlight of the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Colorado Claro is the Sixto I (Hexagono). It is shaped over an extended period in wooden molds. The result is a powerful cigar that has gained many fans with its unique hexagonal form. If you prefer a stronger cigar, we recommend the Plasencia Alma Fuerte Sixto II in the same format. Both series are made from tobaccos that have been aged for over ten years. Personally, I’ve always enjoyed the lighter Alma Colorado Claro: aromatic yet creamy and mild cigars that consistently impress with their flawless craftsmanship.

Nestor Plasencia Jr.: Visionary Behind the Alma Series and Its Brand Strategy

The Alma cigars by Plasencia have represented the premium line from this renowned Nicaraguan tabacalera since their debut in 2016. Nestor Plasencia Jr. introduced the concept to the public at a cigar club in New York. Until then, the Plasencias had mostly produced more affordable cigars under their own name as well as for various private labels. From a strategic perspective, we believe it was – and remains – a wise move to pursue a vertical integration approach, especially in light of increasing consolidation in the cigar industry, to avoid dependence on other market players. The family’s success since 2016 proves them right! Today, the Plasencias are not only the largest tobacco producer in Central America but have also become a major player in cigar distribution thanks to their strong brand.
