Ashton Heritage Puro Sol

The exceptional Ashton Heritage Puro Sol are somewhat atypical for Ashton, as they feature a sun-grown wrapper from Ecuador. As the name suggests, this leaf is matured in the sun—i.e., a sun-grown—which makes it darker, more rustic, and at the same time more aromatic. The binder and filler tobaccos, as usual, come from the Dominican Republic and are also grown in direct sunlight. This fact is also what gives this cigar line its name, “Puro Sol.”

In terms of flavor, the Heritage Ashtons lean toward caramel and almond notes. Ranked number 10 on the list of the world’s best cigars of a given year, these cigars impressed the Cigar Aficionado jury and were described as a “flavorful” smoke with pronounced leather and coffee notes, accompanied by a chocolatey sweetness.

The Ashton cigar brand was founded in the 1980s by American Robert Levin. Today, his daughter and son play a key role in successfully steering the traditional brand into the future. Incidentally, the name goes back to the English pipe maker William Ashton Taylor, who, however, was never directly associated with the cigars presented here.
