Crowned Heads Headley Grange
This is the second cigar line from Crowned Heads, a boutique cigar manufacturer based in Nashville, USA. The four founders are former employees of CAO Cigars, who left the company in 2011 to start their own venture. The Headley Grange line was introduced to the U.S. market in 2012–2013 and was named after a building in London where the rock band Led Zeppelin recorded large parts of their album IV. This album includes the song “When the Levee Breaks,” whose opening drum solo particularly impressed CEO Jon Huber.
Headley Grange by Crowned Heads: Rock ’n’ Roll in Cigar Form
Another anecdote about this series is that Crowned Heads was sued by a U.S. agricultural association called the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry. According to Huber, the matter was settled in 2013, although he did not go into detail. This is also reflected in the fact that we were able to welcome this new release to Germany in January 2018.
The Powerful Elegance of the Crowned Heads Headley Grange Series
Now to the actual objects of desire: the Headley Grange cigars are notably stronger than the previously introduced Four Kicks Cigars. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Sumatra, while the binder and filler are entirely Nicaraguan. These vitolas are produced in the Dominican Republic by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo (EPC) at his Tabacalera La Alianza. They are complex cigars that shift their dominant flavors several times throughout the smoking experience, becoming noticeably stronger toward the end. These are cigars to be enjoyed with attention and care.
