Crowned Heads J.D. Howard Reserve
The cigar brand Crowned Heads is now well-known for its unique, historically inspired, and detail-oriented naming conventions. The J.D. Howard Reserve cigars are certainly no exception. So, who does the name refer to? It is a pseudonym used in the 1870s-1880s in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. It belonged to a gangster. A very famous one. Still don't know? Oh, come on....
Yes, exactly - the "Robin Hood" of bank robbers, none other than Jesse James, inspired this third line from Crowned Heads, introduced in the USA in 2013. It features a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and a filler entirely composed of Nicaraguan tobaccos. Interestingly, despite being a series from the boutique cigar manufacturer based in Nashville, this line is also produced by Ernesto Perez Carillo in the Dominican Republic and contains no Dominican leaves! At Cigarworld, we remain true to our approach and continue to categorize cigars based on their country of origin.
These cigars are upfront and seemingly "simple," just as the gangster Jesse James spared the "simple" people and refrained from robbing those who had rough, "working" hands. This was Jon Huber's (co-founder) thought process when conceiving this series. They are full-bodied cigars that reveal their complexity with careful attention. Primarily, they showcase peppery flavors with subtle hints of sweetness and chocolate.
