Kristoff Corojo Limitada

These cigars were introduced in 2011 at the annual IPCPR tobacco fair in the USA. Just a year later, they were awarded the No. 11 spot among the top 25 cigars of the year by the US cigar magazine Cigar Aficionado.
Almost all the tobaccos used in these cigars come from Nicaragua, with only a small amount of Dominican Sun Grown used in the filler. The wrapper is Nicaraguan Corojo, the binder is a "regular" Nicaraguan Sun Grown, which also makes up the second part of the filler. At the head of the cigar, the wrapper was left a bit longer to seal this side of the cigar. The wrapper is very rustic, with visible veins that may slightly affect the appearance for some aficionados. However, we think it's good that way since it is, after all, a natural product meant to be set on fire and not a luxury handbag or cosmetic treatment. It's oily, rich, and inviting!
Flavor-wise, the Kristoff Corojo Limitada starts with a peppery spice mix that includes cloves, among other flavors. As the smoking progresses, nutty toasty aromas come into play, making this cigar line a sweet and spicy experience. Like all Kristoff cigars, these also have a sweet and oily base characteristic, which leads cigar enthusiasts to either love or hate them. We are more on the loving side!
It was only four years after its introduction in the USA that this line was introduced in Germany by the distributor for Germany, the company Kleinlagel from Bruchsal, with 5 formats. The Vitola introduced in 2014 is the Lancero, measuring 7.5 inches in length and having a 40-ring gauge. Apart from this slim format, our favorite is the mighty Matador, measuring 6.5 inches in length and having a 56-ring gauge.
By the way, the boxes of Kristoff Corojo Limitada in Germany are not delivered with the tobacco leaves depicted on the edges, as shown in many pictures on the internet. This is not allowed under German tobacco tax law since theoretically, one could roll cigars again from these leaves!
