Macanudo Connecticut

The filler of the Macanudo Café consists of a perfectly balanced blend of particularly long-aged Dominican and Mexican long-filler tobaccos, held together by a binder from the heart of Mexico, specifically from the St. Andrés Valley. Finally, the raw cigar is carefully enveloped in a silky, triple-fermented Connecticut Shade wrapper, all done completely by hand (hecho a mano).

During a visit to the factory and tobacco warehouses in 2008, the local authorities told us that their tobaccos are sent from the Dominican Republic to Miami for "winter sweating." Whether it is indeed sweating or rather an attempt to keep the valuable wrapper supplies in politically more stable conditions, everyone can decide for themselves.

These cigars are consistently mild, lightly aromatic, and uncomplicated, which have found admirers worldwide. They are also among the absolute bestsellers in our Cigarworld Lounge.

Originally developed in 1968 in Jamaica under the leadership of Ramón Cifuentes, the legendary blender from Cuba's Partagas, General Cigar introduced them as a new brand in the USA in 1971 under the name Macanudo. Macanudo quickly became the best-selling cigars in the country. In 2005, the General Cigar company was bought by the Swedish company Swedish Match, and in the same year, the outstanding remaining 36% was acquired from the former Cullmann family owners. Swedish Match, in turn, is also 49% involved in STG (Scandinavian Tobacco Group), making it the world's largest cigar and pipe tobacco company.
