Macanudo Inspirado Orange

The Macanudo Inspirado was originally developed for the European market. However, due to its great success, it is now also available in the USA. Benji Menendez and his team created a full-bodied cigar that was introduced to German retailers on May 26, 2014, in Neuss near Düsseldorf.

The cigars are, of course, entirely handmade, using long-filler tobacco rolled in the General Cigar/Macanudo factory in the Dominican Republic. The filler tobaccos come from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. The binder is grown in the Jamastran Valley in Honduras, while the oily and flavorful Rosado-colored wrapper is from the region of San Agustin (also in Honduras). The processed tobaccos show a significant similarity to the CAO OSA, which is not surprising as both brands belong to the same corporation.

The origins of the Macanudo brand go back to the 19th century; in 1868, many Cubans left their homeland and settled in Temple Hall, Jamaica. The name Macanudo was first used as a format designation in the 1940s, but Macanudo truly flourished after it was sold to General Cigar in 1968. Initially produced in Jamaica, the production site was moved to the Dominican Republic in the 1980s and 1990s. Macanudo is known for the process of "Winter sweating," where the wrapper leaves are shipped from the production island to the USA and stored there. The valuable wrapper leaves are then returned to the Caribbean just before processing and rolled onto the cigars.

Over the last 20 years, Macanudo has been the best-selling cigar brand in the USA on many occasions. The classic series includes the milder Café and the slightly sweeter and more aromatic Maduros. In addition to numerous limited editions and vintage series, the Inspirado series was created exclusively for the European market and will only be sold here. Later, the following three series were also added:

  • In the fall of 2015, the Macanudo Inspirado Black cigar
  • In May 2018, the mildest of the four series, the Macanudo Inspirado White
  • In May 2019, the strongest Macanudo Inspirado RED from Nicaragua
  • In the summer of 2020, the green Macanudo Inspirado Green with a Brazilian wrapper was added

In the spring of 2022, the formats Gigantes and Robusto, which had been sold out for a long time, were reintroduced. Particularly pleasing is the significant reduction of the retail prices by around 30%!
