Samana 1756

The Samana 1756 Series line is manufactured at Tabacalera Don Esteban in the Dominican Republic. In Santiago de Los Caballeros, aside from this 2013 novelty, the classic Samana cigar is also rolled.

Naturally, equally well-crafted, the 1756 has nothing in common with its classic "sibling." The wrapper is an Ecuador-grown tobacco, combined with a Dominican Olor as the binder. Just by this combination alone, the blend becomes significantly fuller.

Through the redesign and visual enhancement of the cigar band, along with the addition of a second band designating it as the 1756 Series, it stands out visually. Packaged in elegant 10-count wooden boxes, painted in a vibrant yellow hue, they are ideal for gifting!

The Samana Peninsula was first mentioned in documents in the year 1756. It stretches nearly 70 km in length and 8 to 18 km in width along the northeastern Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic. On the southeastern side lies the town of Santa Barbara de Samana, which, like many other Caribbean towns, evolved from a small fishing village.

The fishing village was founded in the year 1756 at the behest of Governor Rubio y Penaranda by residents of the Canary Islands. Freed slaves from the United States also settled here in the early 19th century. However, a major fire destroyed significant parts of the town in 1946. Only a few buildings, such as the Protestant church La Churcha, survived this fire, for which the then dictator Trujillo was allegedly responsible. Santa Barbara de Samana has since become the capital of the province of Samana.

The peninsula offers many hidden beaches, stunning coves, several impressive waterfalls, and with elevations up to 600 meters above sea level, the landscape is characterized by seemingly endless palm forests and equally vast rainforests and plantations of tropical fruits. Especially between December and March, many tourists observe whales in the Bahia de Samana bay, where they give birth to their calves in the warm waters.
