The term Vegafina is Spanish for a “fine tobacco plantation” or a “fine, fertile river region.” In theory, it should be written as two separate words, but as a proper name, the combined spelling is certainly fine as well – there are no limits to creativity here! Vegafina: Variety and Quality from Tabacalera Garcia

These cigars were introduced in Germany as early as the beginning of the 2000s, and today there is a very broad and diverse range of these Dominican cigars, including limited special editions. Alongside Habanos and Davidoff, Dominican tabacaleras are now also launching annual special editions. In recent years, growing interest from the Far East has also led to the release of limited vitolas inspired by the animals of the Chinese zodiac.

The World of Vegafina Cigars: From Classic Mild Blends to Limited Editions

Vegafina is one of the best-selling Dominican cigar brands. The cigars are made at Tabacalera Garcia, the largest cigar factory on the island of Hispaniola. It was formerly owned by Altadis and its British parent company Imperial Brands (formerly Imperial Tobacco). All Tabacalera Garcia brands have since been sold to a China-based holding company, which now also owns 50% of Habanos S.A. Cigars rolled there include Don Diego, Santa Damiana, as well as the Dominican versions of Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta. As a result, since January 1, 2023, the exclusive Cuban cigar importer 5th Avenue has also been distributing these Dominican cigars.
