Eiroa Limitada

The Eiroa family has been shaping the Central American cigar world for decades. In the 1990s, they took over the Camacho brand from Simon Camacho and helped bring the cigars of the same name to international fame – not least thanks to their outstanding work with the now-iconic Corojo wrappers, which made Honduran cigars highly sought-after. After selling Camacho to the international Davidoff group in 2008, Christian Eiroa stayed on board for another two years before stepping away entirely for another two years. Then the time had come: in 2012, he returned with his own cigars, doing what mattered most to him – producing cigars grown on his own land and rolled by people he trusted. This return to his family roots laid the foundation for the lines of the more affordable CLE and the slightly more exclusive Eiroa – two brands born from the same conviction, each with its own signature style.

Eiroa Limitada 2025 – Origin, Craftsmanship, and Character

The Limitada 2025 from the Eiroa cigar family fits into this development like a new chapter. It represents a blend of experience, precision, and the determination to use only tobaccos that meet the family’s own standards. For this edition, only tobaccos aged for at least three years were used, sourced from two growing regions that have long been of central importance to the Eiroa family. At the core of the cigar are tobaccos from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras and from Colombia. These two origins offer different climatic conditions, giving the blend depth and structure. The long three-year aging period ensures that the components harmonize and no single note dominates. The binder is made from Honduran Corojo, a tobacco type closely tied to the family’s history, having been grown on their own fields for many years. It brings spice and clarity to the blend. For the wrapper, they chose Criollo from Honduras.

Character and Construction of the Eiroa Limitada 2025

This tobacco feels earthier and denser without being overwhelming. Together, the two leaves form a framework that doesn't overpower the filler’s character but guides it. The result is a cigar that recalls the family’s earlier work without simply copying it. The Limitada 2025 demonstrates how tradition can evolve through consistent dedication and a willingness to embrace tobaccos from outside one’s own region. It reflects the open and curious mindset with which Christian Eiroa leads his brand. As a brief aside, I’d like to mention a motto of his that is engraved on every box – a sentiment I find both remarkable and worth emulating: Salud, Amor y Pesetas. This means “Health, Love, and Money.” Many Latin Americans in Nicaragua, with whom we've had contact, still like to add one more line to that: “y el tiempo para disfrutarlos” – “and the time to enjoy them.” How true, how true.
