Esteban Carreras White Label
These cigars by Esteban Carreras round out the extensive portfolio towards the milder end of the spectrum. The White Label is the manufacturer’s mildest series—indeed, even slightly milder than the already soft and "harmless" Esteban Carreras Cashmere. A Connecticut wrapper leaf from Ecuador is used for this cigar. The binder and filler tobaccos come from Nicaragua, having been aged for at least 12 years. For me, it remains fascinating how different strengths and flavor profiles can be created with Nicaraguan tobacco. These exceedingly mild cigars would previously (at least theoretically) have been associated exclusively with Dominican cigars.
Esteban Carreras White Label: Smooth Cigars with Aged Nicaraguan Tobacco
These cigars are ideal for starting the day—a perfect companion to a cappuccino before noon. Due to the extensive aging, all rough edges have vanished, making the White Label cigars an exceptionally smooth smoking experience that delights aficionados with sweetish notes of grass and cedar wood. Since the early 2000s, Tabacalera Esteban Carreras has stood for excellent cigars, handcrafted in Esteli, Nicaragua. The company is headed by Craig Cunningham, whose commitment to consistent quality and authentic tobacco blends has convinced many cigar enthusiasts.
Christopher Mey and Esteban Carreras: International Expansion for Cigar Lovers
The name remains intriguingly mysterious: some suspect Cuban origins, others a clever marketing strategy. What’s certain is that the brand caters to sophisticated cigar connoisseurs and is gaining international recognition, partly due to collaboration with Christopher Mey. Christopher spent over 20 years with Rocky Patel Cigars and went independent in 2024, establishing a consultancy that helps smaller cigar brands find international distributors and enter new markets.
