Rosa Nicaragua Connecticut

The Rosa Nicaragua Connecticut cigar line offers the mildest smoking experience within the Rosa Nicaragua cigars. Produced at the Tabacalera Casa de Alegría in Estelí, each cigar is hand-rolled – using an Indonesian binder and a 100% Nicaraguan filler. The Connecticut Shade wrapper from Ecuador gives this series its distinctive flavor profile: mild, floral-herbal, and (still) with the subtle sweetness of the Indonesian binder. The three versions of the Rosa Nicaragua cigars are once again a great example of how the wrapper determines – or changes – a cigar’s taste. Even though it makes up only a small portion of the cigar by weight, experts widely agree that the wrapper defines more than 50% of the flavor. We've put together a sampler just for this purpose, which includes one of each of the three Robustos.

Rosa Nicaragua Connecticut: Mild Cigar with Ecuadorian Shade Wrapper

The Tabacalera Casa de Alegría was founded by Ralf Westerwick, a German cigar maker with a remarkable life story. After studying geography in Bonn and spending time in Cuba working with disadvantaged youth, he found his way into the cigar world. These experiences shaped not only his values but also his approach to business. Since 2004, he has been producing cigars in Estelí – initially for the German market, and now also for international retailers. With his calm, unpretentious manner and keen sense for quality, Ralf has built an excellent reputation in the Nicaraguan cigar scene – both as the maker of the Casa de Alegría longfillers and as a reliable partner for custom brand projects.

Estelí, Jalapa, and Connecticut: Three Lines, Many Possibilities

The Rosa Nicaragua cigars were created through close collaboration between manufacturer and distributor – inspired by early mediumfiller projects that Ralf had developed for other clients. In addition to the classic Jalapa, known for its balanced character, and the mild Connecticut presented here, the Estelí line was developed as a bolder option. All three lines are based on the same blend, but differ in their wrapper – resulting in clearly distinct flavor profiles. The mediumfillers are sourced directly from the factory, which benefits the price-performance ratio: up to two euros less than comparable formats from other providers. The Rosa Nicaragua series demonstrates that premium cigars don’t have to be luxury items – they can be accessible, fairly priced, and full of character.
