Here is the ‘Night Darkness’ ribbon cut. First things first: I haven't seen such clever packaging for a long time. The 50 gram tin is not only sufficiently sturdy, it even has a rubber seal on the top edge, onto which the lid presses firmly and tightly. Nothing will dry out so quickly! The contents are fine tobacco threads, well conditioned and ready to smoke. The description on the tin promises Black Cavendish, Virginias, toasted Burley and a little Latakia. The emerging flavour has a subtle smoky note, but hay, earth and a fine sweetness can also be smelled. It is wonderfully easy to smoke thanks to its fine cut and good condition. When puffing on the cold pipe, however, the Latakia is not detectable. I love the ease of ignition of Ribbon Cuts. The flame is shown twice and it smoulders quietly. The first puffs send out aromas of herbs, dark cocoa, a delicate sweetness and a very subtle, ethereal smokiness from the Latakia on top. The smoke is fragrant and gentle, without the slightest hint of sharpness. Even after a short break and relighting, it is immediately back and caressing. The name suggests deep blackness. But it is not. Rather, this tobacco paints the night in delicate pastel colours. It remains friendly and full-bodied until the end. The blend never loses its balance. Chapeau!
