Casdagli Cypher 3311

The brand's founder, Jeremy Casdagli, originally launched his cigars under the name Bespoke Cigars, but changed it to Casdagli Cigars in 2018/2019 due to trademark issues. Until 2019, all Casdagli cigars were produced in the Dominican Republic by Henrik Kelner Jr. at his Kelner Boutique Factory KBF. The Cypher 3311 cigars presented here are crafted in Costa Rica by the small Tabacalera IGM, run by Don Olman Guzman in Puriscal, which is also home to the Daughters of the Wind Line cigars.

Casdagli Cigars A Tribute to Heroism and Craftsmanship

The Cypher 3311 line pays tribute to Jeremy Casdagli’s grandfather, who was captured by the Nazis during World War II while serving as a major in the British intelligence unit MI9, and managed to send secret messages back to the UK from captivity. A compelling story—makes the tasting cigar even more enjoyable. The line includes four vitolas with two different blends. Each cigar is packaged in its own wooden box, with eight cigars per case.

The two formats, Needle and Colossus, are rolled with an Ecuadorian wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Peru, and a “secret” country. As for the Lorenz and Enigma vitolas, it is only revealed that they are made with an Ecuadorian wrapper; the rest remains (aptly) a secret.

The Exclusive World of Casdagli Cigars Limited Masterpieces Rooted in Tradition

In the first year, only 250 boxes of each format were released to the market; later, according to Jeremy Casdagli, production is expected to double. After production, all cigars are aged for an additional year. Casdagli donates €1 per cigar to the Red Cross, which, during his grandfather’s imprisonment, likely saved his life.

It’s fascinating to see how many cigar manufacturers continue to launch limited, highly exclusive—and consequently high-priced—cigar lines. Since Cuban cigars became scarcer and significantly more expensive around 2020, many aficionados have shown a growing willingness to invest in high-quality products at premium prices, especially since Habanos remain considerably more expensive even at those elevated price levels. Manufacturers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua should probably be sending crates of champagne to Cuba in gratitude. We found the test cigar to be excellent—harmonious and full of character. Whether it’s worth the price is ultimately for each person to decide.
