Vegas de Santiago Axel Schulz

Those of us who are older will remember the name Axel Schulz well. He had a very successful professional boxing career in the 1990s until he was knocked out by none other than Wladimir Klitschko in September 1999. An attempted comeback in 2006 was unfortunately not successful, so he has since been involved in television hosting and entrepreneurship. The father of two daughters has been a passionate cigar smoker for a long time and approached us in 2018 to see if we could assist him in creating a line of cigars under his name. We connected him with several manufacturers, and he ultimately decided to work with Tabacalera Vegas de Santiago by Marc Niehaus in Costa Rica. Various series are produced there, including the very successful and popular Vegas de Santiago D8 cigars.

Those who know Marc know that this is not just any marketing cigar, but a solid product at a fair price. In various tastings, the blend has consistently performed well and received high marks. These are harmonious and uncomplicated cigars that can impress with their smoothness and natural sweetness. An Ecuadorian leaf is used for the wrapper and binder, while the filler blend consists of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. Axel personally selected the two vitolas and also placed special emphasis on small pack sizes that are practical and easy to carry.
