ADV Barbarroja's Invasion
The origin of this brand dates back to 2016, when Swiss sommelier and cigar merchant Marcel Knobel entered into a partnership with Henderson Ventura of Tabacalera William Ventura. Trademark issues led to the original name Adventura Cigars being changed to ADV Cigars & McKay. The various cigar lines each represent episodes from the fictional adventures of ADVentura and his companion McKay, who experience different adventures around the world together in the 15th century.
ADV Cigars & McKay: The Captivating Story Behind Marcel Knobel’s Adventure Cigars
Marcel’s cigars were originally his own brand, which he initially distributed selectively in Switzerland through other retailers. Since autumn 2018, his cigars have also been available in Germany. At first, three lines were introduced here: The Explorer, The Conqueror and El Loco. By now, the range has grown significantly! The Barbarrojas Invasion cigar series presented here consists of three vitolas. The series name refers to King Barbarossa. Well, that doesn’t quite match the 15th century, as the Roman-German king and emperor Frederick I lived in the 12th century and fell from his horse. Be that as it may, Marcel says he worked on the blend for two years and that it turned out significantly stronger than, for example, the latest creations in the style of ADV Cigars The Royal Return.
From Switzerland to the World: The Exciting Journey of ADV Cigars & McKay Cigars
The blend consists of a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Dominican binder, as well as Dominican filler tobaccos, which also include some so-called Medio Tiempo, known for its strength as it grows at the very top of the plant and thus receives more sunlight. Accordingly, things get quite intense here – no cigar for beginners!
The cigars are produced at Tabacalera Henderson Ventura in the Dominican Republic. Here you will find an overview of all cigars from ADV Cigars & McKay available in Germany.
