AVO Limited Editions

During his lifetime, Avo Uvezian released (almost) every year a limited edition on the market. These releases were often tied to more or less round birthdays, giving a reason to celebrate. He was born in 1926 into a Beiruti musician family with Armenian roots. On March 24, 2017, he passed away at the ripe age of 91. He was a world-renowned figure in jazz, and in the 1980s, he started creating his own cigars in collaboration with Oettinger/Davidoff.

After meeting Hendrik Kelner in 1982, who was then the "contract manufacturer" for Davidoff in the Dominican Republic, he began having his own cigars produced by him in the mid-1980s. In the mid-1990s, he sold his brand to the Swiss holding company Davidoff/Oettinger, which has been distributing all cigars of this brand ever since. As Hendrik Kelner (the producer) also eventually sold to the Davidoff group, Davidoff/Oettinger now essentially manufactures the Avo cigars themselves.
