Davidoff Puro Dominicano
The Davidoff Puro Dominicano cigars were introduced in Germany in 2026 as the fourth permanently available line within the more aromatic and “exciting” black series from Davidoff. Davidoff cigars hardly need any introduction to aficionados anymore. They rank – much like the Cuban cigars of the premium brand Cohiba – among the most well-known and sought-after cigars worldwide. In the same year, Davidoff also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Signature 2000 – probably the best-selling premium cigar in the world.
Puro Dominicano By Davidoff: Premium Cigars From The Dominican Republic
This sounded so exciting that I immediately lit up a Puro Dominicano in the Corona Larga format to get a second impression. The first impression had been in Hamburg during the 2026 depositary conference, where we had the chance to try a Perfecto. Even if this might not make me popular, the first half centimeter of both vitolas was not particularly pleasant, but rather bitter and sharp. Fortunately, after another half centimeter everything was “back on track” and became increasingly enjoyable! Officially, this new series ranges between creamy and slightly sweet (cream, fruit, hints of cappuccino) on the one hand, and spicy and full-bodied (wood, earth, pepper) on the other.
The White Lines – Elegant Davidoff Classics
The classic white lines from Davidoff include Dominican blends that have shaped the brand’s style for decades. First and foremost is the Davidoff Signature, known for its mild, finely balanced aroma. It is aimed at aficionados who appreciate a subtle, creamy cigar with a clear profile. Alongside it, the Davidoff Grand Cru belongs in this category. It appears somewhat spicier and more structured, yet remains true to the elegant core character. One step more complex is the Davidoff Aniversario, which develops greater depth without losing its balance. The Davidoff Millennium is also often still grouped with the white lines. Despite its darker wrapper, it remains stylistically close to the classic Davidoff DNA, focusing on balance, refined sweetness, and controlled strength.
Black Bands – Modern Cigars By Davidoff
With its black series, Davidoff has significantly expanded its portfolio. Stronger blends and more distinctive flavor profiles take center stage here. The journey began in 2013 with the Davidoff Nicaragua. It was the first line entirely based on Nicaraguan tobaccos and marked an important step away from the purely Dominican focus. With the Davidoff Escurio, first introduced in 2015, a blend combining Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos was added. Its hallmark is a sweet-spicy flavor profile with noticeable intensity. In 2016, the Davidoff Yamasa followed. For its wrapper and binder, it uses tobaccos from the region of the same name in the Dominican Republic, bringing in distinctly earthier and spicier notes.
