Davidoff Puro Dominicano

The cigars from Davidoff likely need no introduction to any aficionado. Like the Cuban cigars of the premium brand Cohiba, they are certainly among the best-known and most sought-after cigars in the world. In 2026, for example, Davidoff celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Signature 2000 and emphasized in particular that this vitola is likely the best-selling premium cigar worldwide.

Davidoff Puro Dominicano – 100% Dominican Cigars

The Davidoff Puro Dominicano cigars were introduced in Germany in March 2026 as the fourth permanently available line within the more aromatic and exciting black series. That sounded so intriguing that I immediately lit up a Corona Larga to get a second impression. We had our first impression in Hamburg at the 2026 depositary conference, where we were able to try a Perfecto. Even if it doesn’t win me any friends: unfortunately, the first half centimeter of both vitolas was not particularly pleasant, but rather bitter and sharp. Fortunately, after another half centimeter everything was “back on track,” and the smoking experience became increasingly more enjoyable. Officially, this new series moves on the one hand between creamy and slightly sweet (cream, fruit, hints of cappuccino) and on the other hand spicy and full-bodied (wood, earth, pepper). “My” Corona Larga delivered this nicely – even if the start was a bit bumpy.

All Cigar Formats of the Davidoff Puro Dominicano

The Corona Larga showcases its strengths primarily through greater length and a calmer progression, making it particularly appealing for relaxed moments. With its 44 ring gauge, it references the year 1844 and thus the independence of the Dominican Republic. This long, slender format in particular ensures a calm, gentle development of the blend and gives the smoking progression plenty of room. The Perfecto, in turn, emphasizes the influence of the wrapper and binder more strongly through its tapered head and foot and demonstrates the level of precision involved in rolling such Figurado cigars. The Short Robusto condenses the blend into a shorter enjoyment time and allows the aromas to emerge more directly.

Davidoff White Bands – Elegant Cigar Classics

The classic white series includes the Dominican blends that have shaped the brand’s style for decades. At the forefront is the Davidoff Signature Series, known for its mild, finely balanced aroma profile. It is aimed at aficionados who appreciate a restrained, creamy cigar from the Dominican Republic with a clear line. Alongside it, the Davidoff Grand Cru Series also belongs in this category. It appears somewhat spicier and more structured, yet remains true to the elegant core character. A step more complex is the Davidoff Aniversario, which develops greater depth without losing balance. The Davidoff Millennium is also often still assigned to the white lines. Despite its darker wrapper, it remains stylistically close to the classic Davidoff DNA and focuses on balance, subtle sweetness, and controlled strength.

Davidoff Black Bands – Modern Cigars with Intensity

With the black series, which also includes the Davidoff Puro Dominicano discussed here, Davidoff has noticeably expanded its portfolio. Here, more distinctive flavor profiles take center stage. The starting point came in 2013 with the Davidoff Nicaragua. It was the first line based entirely on Nicaraguan tobaccos and marked an important step away from a purely Dominican focus. With the Davidoff Escurio, first introduced in 2015, a blend was added that combines Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos. Its hallmark is a sweet-spicy aroma with noticeable intensity. In 2016, the Davidoff Yamasa followed. Its wrapper and binder are based on tobaccos from the region of the same name in the Dominican Republic and bring significantly earthier and spicier notes into play.
