EPC Short Run
In this section, we collect the limited editions by Ernesto Perez-Carillo that have accumulated over the years. He launched these limited editions under the name "Short Run." He started this in 2009, and the last one until recently was the edition from 2016. Now, after a 5-year break, he has released a new edition called "Retro 2021 Extended Play." These were introduced in 2021 and reached us in the summer of 2022. Here we still have the "old text" about the limited edition from the year 2014 for you:
The limited edition of 2014 has also been named "Short Run" again by Ernesto Perez Carrillo, as all three vitolas are limited once more and therefore will have a "short run." These are the three already known sizes from the regular INCH series, but they have been blended with a stronger mixture.
A beautiful, juicy, and oily Dominican Corojo from 2006 was used as the wrapper. The binder is also a Corojo, but a Nicaraguan one from 1999. The filler, as in the standard series, is a blend of tobaccos from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Throughout the smoking experience, earthy and nutty flavors dominate. Sweet and peppery notes also emerge, which recede somewhat in the final third, making room for a light spiciness.
Ernesto Perez-Carrillo became very quickly and widely known in the 1990s through his cigar brand El Credito. His family had brought this brand from Cuba. Initially produced in Miami, the production soon moved to the Dominican Republic due to its great success. A few years later, he sold his brand to the US corporation General Cigars, which in turn is part of the multinational corporation Scandinavian Tobacco Group. Understandably, one can only say - though the amounts were never officially disclosed, I assume that Ernesto probably wouldn't need to work anymore...
Then, for and with his two children, he founded the EPC company in 2010 after a certain period of inactivity (probably more of a duty to refrain), which has been very successful in recent years with cigars in the small batch and boutique style. In Germany, his cigars are distributed by the Wolfertz GmbH company from Solingen.
