Gurkha Ghost Silver
The history of Gurkha Cigars truly began when the founder of the brand, Kaizad Hansotia, acquired a few cigars of this label for himself while vacationing on the island of Goa (India) in 1988. The Portuguese sellers eventually sold their entire stock of cigars as well as the brand rights to Kaizad for $143. From one moment to the next, he had taken over their failing business and originally only intended to give the cigars away to business partners. They quickly took a liking to his gifts, prompting him to turn the idea into a business.
Discover the Diversity of Flavors of the Gurkha Ghost Silver
In the early 1990s, most products were not particularly original or high-quality in terms of packaging, and the general price structure for cigars was at a “normal” level. Gurkha chose a different path and has since introduced many highly unusual and very expensive cigars to the market, which continue to define the brand’s dazzling and exclusive character to this day.
Gurkha Ghost Silver: The Impressive History of the Cigar
The wrapper of the “original” Gurkha Ghost, now sold as Gurkha Ghost Silver, is a Brasil Arapiraca. The binder is a Criollo 98 from the Dominican Republic, and the filler tobaccos come exclusively from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. These cigars are produced by Abe Flores (PDR, Flores & Rodriguez, La Palina, and several Kristoff). They are relatively similar to PDR cigars and produce a lot of white smoke (so don’t be alarmed when you try them). Chocolate, wood, pepper, and a subtle sweetness define the flavor profile at medium strength – something we personally enjoy very much!
