Gurkha Royal Challenge
According to the brand strategy, the Royal Challenge cigar line is one of the Core Brands of Gurkha Cigars. When it was introduced in 2011, this line was originally intended exclusively for so-called “Brick & Mortar” cigar retailers. The term refers to physical stores built from actual brick and mortar. Good thing no one here paid too much attention… :-) Then again, with the Cigarworld Lounge, we are a genuine B&M shop ourselves!
Gurkha Royal Challenge: a Masterpiece of Flavor and Presentation
On the US market, this type of sales restriction is quite common because smaller brands depend on the support of specialty tobacconists. Retailers, in turn, are generally willing to provide that support only if these cigars are not available from the major online retailers, some of which compete with very aggressive pricing. But now to the cigar itself: The wrapper is an elegant, light-colored Connecticut Shade grown in Ecuador. The binder comes from Honduras, while the filler tobaccos are sourced from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. These are very mild and smooth cigars from the Dominican Republic that nevertheless deliver a remarkably high level of complexity.
Exclusivity and Elegance: The Success Story of Gurkha Royal Challenge Cigars
Company founder Kaizad Hansotia, also known as the “King of Packaging”, created another highlight with the presentation: the boxes of 20 cigars are wrapped in leather and feature a large, eye-catching buckle on the front. The company also received a prestigious award in 2011 for its elaborately designed cigar bands.
