La Flor Dominicana Reserva Especial
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking of this cigar brand is undoubtedly the iconic image of Litto Gomez and his wife Ines Lorenzo Gomez on horseback, wearing a white hat in the middle of a tobacco field. Strictly speaking, everyone knows the scene is more symbolic than factual, but it looks fantastic and is instantly memorable. The couple have used this image for decades in cigar magazines and at trade show booths alike. Speaking of the two of them: Litto was born in Spain but grew up in Uruguay before trying his luck in Canada. While working in a restaurant kitchen in Toronto, a colleague gave him a cigar that impressed him so deeply it inspired him to enter the cigar business himself. His path took a detour, however, when he opened a pawn shop specializing in jewelry and watches in Florida. Unfortunately, the store was robbed, forcing him to start over from scratch.
La Flor Dominicana: Litto Gomez and the Rise of a Boutique Cigar Brand
It was then that he returned to his passion for cigars and, together with his wife, founded La Flor Dominicana in 1994. To this day, the company's own La Canela farm supplies a large share of the tobaccos used, complemented by carefully selected premium tobaccos from other growing regions. The result is a portfolio of boutique cigars whose diversity and exceptional craftsmanship have earned the brand international recognition.
La Flor Dominicana in Germany: From Schuster to STG to Kopp Tobaccos
These renowned cigars have been available in Germany since 1996, initially imported by Schuster of Bünde, followed by a period under STG, and since the end of 2025 by the family-owned company Kopp Tobaccos from Rellingen near Hamburg. With this transition came the brand's highly unusual white boxes, now also available on the German market. The Reserva Especial cigars have been produced unchanged since 1997 and are now presented in updated packaging across three vitolas. The blend itself has remained untouched since 1997 and is designed to deliver "Connecticut the La Flor way": a predominantly mild character combined with the signature richness and strength cigar enthusiasts have come to expect from La Flor Dominicana. The line is an excellent choice for smokers looking to experience Connecticut tobacco in a bolder, yet carefully balanced interpretation.
