The original founder of this cigar brand is Helmut Bührle, who ran a specialist cigar shop in Stuttgart for many years before launching his own luxury brand in the early 2000s. The cigar brand Laura Chavin is named after his daughter and is actually pronounced “shah-veen” and not “shah-veng,” as one might assume. As a gifted marketing expert, Bührle always managed to create a luxurious and cosmopolitan image of his premium lifestyle. Then everything became different, cleaner, and more professional: In 2019, Willy Knopf, a cigar enthusiast and experienced marketing specialist, took over the Laura Chavin brand and has since been successfully distributing it in Germany. The Laura Chavin cigars continue to be produced in the same Tabacalera Altagracia, owned by Austrian Günther Schichl in the Dominican Republic. Willy Knopf closely oversees the work on-site and regularly travels there to maintain a strong connection with his cigars. One of his guiding principles is that his “cigars should never weigh down the aficionado throughout the smoking experience.”
