Laura Chavin: Bestseller
Laura Chavin: All items
Laura Chavin is not only a German cigar brand but also the name of the founder Helmut Bührle's daughter. Born in 1948, Helmut Bührle was so inspired by his daughter that he named his fine tobaccos after her. Cigars as a luxury product have a long tradition in the Bührle family. Even Helmut Bührle's mother worked with raw tobaccos in the Stuttgart area and was a member of the "Principle Pipe Dealers" association.
Laura Chavin: Luxury Cigars in German Hands
In addition to his then-dream of becoming a fashion designer in Paris, Helmut Bührle worked for several luxurious companies such as Christian Dior and, more importantly, Zino Davidoff after studying business administration, marketing, and design. In 1992, at the age of 40, it was time for Bührle to start his own cigar brand. Laura Chavin Cigars was established as a brand for fine, hand-rolled premium cigars. In the early 1990s, close relationships were maintained with Siegfried Maruschke (through his mother Sophie Chavin Bührle) and Jose Seijas, who have factories in the Dominican Republic and proved to be suitable partners and friends. Señor Seijas even established a small factory in his Tabacalera de Garcia for Mr. Bührle's project. The beginning is always difficult, and like many new creations, it took several years of work for Helmut Bührle to perfect the blend.

Each setup is developed and implemented by specialists from the Laura Chavin manufactory.
Ownership Change: Willi Knopf Takes Over Laura Chavin
The Laura Chavin cigar brand has developed into one of the leading providers of premium cigars over the course of its successful history. Since 2017, the brand and the consistent pursuit of quality by its founder Helmut Bührle have been continued by Cigar Company Willi Knopf with much passion and personal commitment.
Willi Knopf has been a passionate cigar smoker for many years and brings, in addition to his enthusiasm for the product and its extraordinary pleasure potential, all the other prerequisites to successfully lead the Laura Chavin brand and its exclusive cigar ranges into the future.
Exclusive Contract with Tabacalera Altagracia
In a new exclusive look and with new product creations, Laura Chavin presents a high-quality collection to international cigar connoisseurs with the 2019 edition. The heart of the newly founded company is located near Santiago in the Dominican Republic. There, Willi Knopf has an exclusive contract with Tabacalera Altagracia, which ensures him the best qualities. The tobaccos largely come from the cultivation of small tobacco-growing families.
Smooth Cigars
Willi Knopf oversees the work there and is regularly on-site to ensure the necessary proximity to the product right in its homeland. The most important feature of all his new and revised blends is an exceptional flavor volume with low to medium strength. His credo: "My cigars should not burden the connoisseur during the entire smoking duration."
With the Laura Chavin brand, he aims to set a benchmark among cigar lovers, the specialty trade, upscale gastronomy, and hotels with their cigar lounges, showing that the glorious brand is on its way to becoming a shining star in the cigar sky once again under his leadership.
Laura Chavin: Cigars in the Portfolio
In addition to the "classic" cigars from Laura Chavin, the company has created other blends and continually expanded its portfolio with new series. Both fans of mild cigars and aficionados with a taste for stronger cigars will find something here:
Classic
The Laura Chavin Classic are the first cigars from Laura Chavin. They were released in 1998 and feature a Dominican blend (Olo and Piloto Cubano tobaccos) along with a Mexican Sumatra and a Connecticut Shade wrapper.
A four to five-year aging process guarantees balanced aromas. The Laura Chavin Classic can be roughly compared in taste to Macanudo White or the mild Arturo Fuente.
Concours des Meilleurs Connaisseurs
The Laura Chavin Concours des Meilleurs Connaisseurs (CMC) is limited to 500 boxes per year. The special feature of this creation is that "a second ultra-thin leaf" of tobacco is used under the wrapper and above the binder, and the tobacco blend is generally unknown!
Terre de Mythe
The Laura Chavin Terre de Mythe respectfully bows to the great cigars of the past. The "mystical earth" with its dense texture, which is never too strong, is reminiscent of legendary creations from past eras.
Virginy
With the Laura Chavin Virginy, the focus is on the future. It is the first cigar developed under the new owner Willi Knopf and marks the beginning of a new era at Laura Chavin.
The Virginy series impresses with a mild yet aromatic blend. A Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador and Dominican tobaccos in the filler provide a balanced taste with gentle creaminess and a hint of nut and spice. These cigars are especially suitable for connoisseurs who are looking for an elegant but uncomplicated cigar for relaxed moments.
La Ligue des Divins
The League of the Divine, so is the German translation of the Laura Chavin La Ligue des Divins. This highly complex blend creates a truly otherworldly firework of aromas, and the tobaccos are grown at over 800m altitude.
