La Chaveta: Premium Cigars from Nicaragua
We are delighted to introduce our own brand in late summer 2025, fulfilling a small dream of ours. La Chaveta cigars are handmade premium long-fillers from Nicaragua, into which we have put a great deal of thought and passion.
From Online Retailer to Cigar Brand
We have been running the Cigarworld online shop for almost 30 years now. Our aim has always been to stock everything available on the German cigar market in our shop. We also offer our own labels, including our popular “house brands” La Domaine de Lavalette from the Dominican Republic and Rosa Nicaragua from Nicaragua. These bundle cigars offer excellent value for money and suit any occasion, but they cannot match the complexity of flavor found in a long-filler.
At Home in Nicaragua: Cigars from La Chaveta
With La Chaveta cigars from Nicaragua, we are now entering the world of premium-quality cigars. For a long time, we had been pursuing the idea of having our own house brand rolled in this Central American country. For various reasons, our previous efforts had not been successful.
The fact that this has changed is thanks to a friend of our company: like us, Ralf Westerwick comes from North Rhine-Westphalia and runs a successful tabacalera in Estelí. We have been closely connected with him for more than two decades, both professionally and personally, and hold each other in high regard. When Ralf tells us about increased production capacity at his factory, the decision is clear. From the outset, we know that a large-scale operation is not an option for our project; we want a small tabacalera that devotes the same care and passion to the brand as we do. Ralf proves to be the ideal partner – something we never doubted from the start.
What Makes the La Chaveta Brand Special?
As requested, La Chaveta cigars are rolled slightly firmer – ensuring optimal draw resistance and particularly stable ash. Two pigtails, one at the head and one at the foot, make the cigars instantly recognizable. Quality and flavor are not everything – the price has to be right too. That is why we are particularly pleased that our direct partnership with the factory allows us to offer these premium cigars to you at a fair price, well under 10 euros.
Meaning of “Chaveta”
How did we come up with the name? “La Chaveta” is the name of the rounded knife used to cut the wrapper leaf. It is widely used in cigar production and is therefore a central symbol of tobacco culture. We hope its distinctive name will quickly become synonymous among aficionados with first-class quality from Nicaragua.

La Chaveta White
The first line from the new brand is called La Chaveta White. We wanted it to be mild and aromatic – and that is exactly what it has become. At the same time, it develops a fascinating depth thanks to its distinctive filler made exclusively from Nicaraguan tobaccos from Estelí, Jalapa and Condega. This is Nicaraguan cigar blending at the highest international level.

La Chaveta Black
Complexity and depth – both also define La Chaveta Black. As a Nicaraguan puro, however, it is considerably stronger. Even the dark, rich H.-Criollo wrapper promises intense notes. The filler is a carefully balanced composition of tobaccos from Estelí, Jalapa and Condega. To allow the different aromas to develop optimally, the tobaccos undergo six months of fermentation; after rolling, the spicy, full-bodied cigars are then aged for another six months in the maturation humidor.

La Chaveta Sampler
La Chaveta Samplers come in convenient Freshpacks and pocket cases that protect the cigars while also looking attractive. Rather than containing identical formats, they feature different cigar sizes and offer an ideal way to discover the brand from Nicaragua.
The first sampler, the La Chaveta White Freshpack, contains six hand-rolled premium cigars (Toro, Robusto, Perla). They are creamy, smooth and aromatic, while their firm construction ensures optimal draw resistance. The La Chaveta Black Freshpack includes one cigar in each of the four formats, giving you the opportunity to try the complete line.
La Chaveta Cutter
To complete the elegant presentation, a matching cigar cutter is also available. Another friend of our company is responsible for it: Thorsten Wolfertz produces these reliable accessories using original blades from Solingen. The perfect complement to our new premium house brand from Nicaragua.
