The first PDR cigars under the name 1975 Gran Reserva were launched in 2013. The 1975 Gran Reserva Desflorado cigars presented here debuted in 2016, but only reached the German market in 2023. They were introduced at the annual IPCPR Convention & Trade Show in 2016, where all major cigar brands showcase their larger and more important new releases.

Abraham "Abe" Flores is a prominent figure in the premium cigar industry. He is the founder and master blender of PDR Cigars and has been active in the cigar industry for over 25 years. Flores was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in Santiago de los Caballeros, known as the center of the country’s tobacco industry. His passion for cigars began at a young age, and he learned the art of cigar making from some of the most experienced master blenders in the world. He founded PDR Cigars in 2004 and quickly established a reputation as a manufacturer. The company offers a wide range of blends, including both traditional and innovative flavor profiles, and has received numerous awards and accolades over the years. For many years, we have also sourced a significant portion of our Dominican Factory Overrun cigars from him.

Abe Flores 1975 Gran Reserva Desflorado: A Masterpiece of Mild Enjoyment

The line presented here uses a Connecticut wrapper from Ecuador, two binders from Ecuadorian Sungrown and Nicaraguan Jalapa, as well as filler tobacco from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The new line takes its name from the wrapper, which comes from tobacco plants whose flowers have been removed (“deflorado”). This process redirects more nutrients and strength to the leaves, resulting in a more flavorful tobacco. The Abe Flores 1975 Gran Reserva Desflorado cigars are typical representatives of mild cigars with a Connecticut wrapper. They also feature citrus notes and softer woody aromas, complemented by a subtle nuttiness. Ideal after a light lunch or for a late breakfast with a smooth cappuccino.
