A. Flores Gran Reserva Sun Grown

The Tabacalera PDR Cigars (which stands for the Cuban city Pinar del Rio) in Tamboril, Dominican Republic, and its founder Abe Flores have brought a lot of momentum to the Dominican cigar world since their establishment in 2004. Abe's trademark is that he rolls all cigars in the Cuban, significantly more elaborate Entubado style. He also produces numerous successful cigar series for brands like Gurkha and La Palina.

Interestingly, he was born in Queens, NY, in the USA, and his family originally comes from the Dominican Republic. This might be why he's a bit more "casual" when it comes to imitating Cuban packaging units and cigar rings. For example, the cigar ring of the Flores y Rodriguez 10th Anniversary Edicion Limitada, also produced by him, bears a striking resemblance to a limited edition from the Cuban brand Ramon Allones from 2011. Similarly, the 5-cigar box of the Half Corona here is quite similar to the H. Upmann Half Corona....

In this variant with the Sun Grown wrapper, the aroma is a bit more restrained compared to the original Corojo series from 2012. Overall, there are five different vitolas, but only two of them will find their way to Germany. The filler in this case is also a blend of the finest Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. The binder and wrapper are again Dominican, but this time in a slightly less robust Sun-Grown variant.
