Balmoral Royal Selection Maduro

The dark Arapiraca wrapper from Brazil used for the Balmoral Royal Selection Maduro gives it a rich, mellow, and slightly sweet flavor. Apart from the wrapper, this cigar line is identical to the red, lighter Claro series. This means that the binder is a Dominican Olor and the filler consists of Dominican and Brazilian tobaccos. This is another example of the importance of the wrapper. Even though it is rather insignificant in terms of weight, experts estimate that it contributes between 40 and 70% to the overall flavor profile.

Balmoral Royal Selection Maduro: The Dark Arapiraca Wrapper as the Secret of Flavor

The Balmoral cigars were produced and distributed by the Dutch company AGIO of the Wintermans family. They are primarily known for their machine-made cigarillos Meharis, Biddies and Agio Filter Tip, but in recent years they have also built a very strong reputation in the production of longfillers. The introduction of the Anejo 18 Years in particular marked a significant leap in terms of credibility and image. Since September 2015, this series has been renamed Anejo XO due to the depletion of the 18-year-old wrapper and was originally available in three different vitolas. Particularly striking is the solid walnut wood box, which clearly emphasizes the premium character of the three cigars. Numerous additional formats and limited editions have since been launched on the market.

The Evolution of Balmoral Cigars: From AGIO to STG

At the turn of the year 2019/20, the family sold their company as well as all cigar and cigarillo brands to the Danish tobacco group STG. As is common with publicly listed companies, the portfolio is occasionally streamlined based on quarterly reports. This has led to the cigars presented here now only being available in remaining quantities. Here we have compiled the complete selection of Balmoral cigars for you.
