Balmoral Anejo XO Oscuro

The Oscuro is an extension of Balmoral's premium cigar line, introduced to the German market in June 2018. The "regular" Longfiller series, named Royal Selection Claro, Royal Selection Maduro, and Royal Selection Reserva, were complemented in 2012 with the Balmoral Anejo XO premium line, which has been selling very well since then and has received numerous top ratings from cigar magazines.

The Balmoral Anejo XO OSCURO presented here is even darker and richer in flavor than its older "sister." It uses a Mexican San Andres Negro Stalk Cut as the wrapper, with a Dominican Olor binder. The filler consists of Nicaraguan Jalapa, Dominican Olor, and some exclusive Brazilian Mata Norte.

Flavor-wise, expect complex notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and black pepper, all underlined with a smooth, natural sweetness. With a total of seven different vitolas, there is certainly something to suit every preference and desired smoking duration. These treasures are again packaged in very heavy and solid wooden boxes, which we already have fond memories of from the "other" XOs.

Behind this brand is the family-owned company AGIO Cigars, led by the Wintermans family. Son Boris and father Art are convincing tobacco experts and have once again hit the mark here. Admittedly, when the premium cigars were first introduced in 2012, we were initially skeptical if this endeavor would succeed – we have definitely been proven wrong.
