Balmoral Dominican Selection
These very affordable cigars are machine-made primarily from Dominican tobaccos and are individually aroma-sealed in cellophane packaging. The filler of the Balmoral Dominican Selection consists of a blend of selected Caribbean tobaccos, resulting in a pleasantly mild smoking experience. The wrapper is a Connecticut Shade from Ecuador, while the binder also comes from the Dominican Republic.
Balmoral Dominican Selection: Affordable Quality from Dominican Tobaccos
This series is designed for the price-conscious smoker who still expects high-quality cigars and cigarillos. There is a suitable format for every smoking occasion, easy to carry in practical packaging. Here you will find a nice overview of the Balmoral cigars. In recent years, the Balmoral cigar brand has significantly gained prestige with the introduction of the premium Anejo 18 series. In September 2015, the tobacco bales used for it were depleted, which led to it being renamed Anejo XO. One could almost say this is something like a Phaeton effect; here too, an attempt was made to elevate the image of the entire brand with a premium product—and it worked!
Balmoral Cigars: Tradition and Quality in Every Series
The Wintermans family, owners of Agio and Balmoral, are still personally involved in the company. At Inter Tabac 2015, we were able to record an informative video with Boris Wintermans on the transition to the XO Anejo. In 2019, the family decided to sell their company Agio Cigars to the tobacco group STG. Increasing regulatory pressure from authorities likely played a significant role in this decision. As is often the case following acquisitions, STG streamlined the portfolio and optimized processes. In doing so, parts of this series also fell victim to cost-cutting measures.
