Crowned Heads Four Kicks

This cigar brand was founded in 2011 by former employees of the CAO brand (now part of the publicly listed Scandinavian Tobacco Group STG). The four colleagues—perhaps also the inspiration behind the name Four Kicks—introduced this line as their first release on the U.S. market. Officially, the series name was inspired by a song of the same name by the Kings of Leon, which revolves around loyalty to oneself and perseverance. It is worth noting that STG (Scandinavian Tobacco Group) acquired CAO from Tim Özgener in 2007 and planned in 2011 to relocate the headquarters from Nashville to Richmond. The four founders chose not to leave Nashville and instead took this as an opportunity to break away from the STG corporate environment and create something of their own. After all, the “crowned heads” were already familiar with bold stories and exciting blends from their time with CAO Cigars.

Four Kicks by Crowned Heads: A Triumph of Independence

It took several years to find a distributor in Germany. Since 2015, our friendly retail colleague Salih Dalay from Saarbrücken has been distributing this boutique brand. Initially, only a sampler was available; since January 2017, the vitolas have also been offered individually, outside of the sampler. The wrapper is a Sun Grown (we are not allowed to call it anything else…) from Ecuador, while the binder and filler are entirely Nicaraguan.

The Inspiring Story Behind Four Kicks Cigars

Production takes place at Tabacalera La Alianza, run by industry icon Ernesto Perez-Carrillo (EPC Cigars). These are medium-bodied cigars with pronounced woody and leathery notes. As always, Ernesto stands for impeccable craftsmanship.
