EPC Cardinal Maduro
That Ernesto is big and strong, we already know; with the Cardinal Maduro, he proves to us that he can also produce very aromatic, round, and multifaceted cigars. The fine Broadleaf Maduro wrapper provides a round and balanced sweetness that seems to duel with the peppery Nicaraguan filler.
As the smoking time increases, earthy tones then dominate, E.P. Carrillo returns to his roots with significantly increased intensity and spiciness. He rose to become one of the most renowned manufacturers in the 1990s when he had the El Credito cigar line produced in Miami. From there, due to its huge success, he soon relocated to the Dominican Republic and shortly thereafter added the much stronger and larger ring gauge El Credito Serie R.
Understandably, he shortly thereafter accepted the offer to sell his company to General Cigars, one of the world's largest cigar conglomerates, and to enjoy his success for a while.
