La Aurora Untamed

The La Aurora Untamed (which stands for "untamed" in English) is an unusual cigar series for this Tabacalera. Being self-proclaimed as the "oldest factory in the Dominican Republic," it has been known for a more traditional approach and tends to offer milder blends since its entry into the German market. The highly popular Leon Jimenes cigars, for example, also originate from this renowned factory and represent a classic, mild Dominican blend.

With the new Untamed cigars, La Aurora is likely aiming to rejuvenate its image and attract younger newcomers (aged between 25-30 years), similar to what Camacho did in 2013. There are a total of 5 different vitolas available, all packaged in 24-count wooden boxes except for the 16-count Gran Gordo.

In terms of flavor, the La Aurora Untamed starts from zero to a hundred, delivering robust, full-bodied, and peppery notes right from the beginning. This is underlined by a strong and woody character. In the second third, the cigar calms down a bit and introduces new flavors of coffee and nuts. The intensity of the described flavors and the peppery notes increase again in the final third, requiring a seasoned or "strong" smoker. The nicotine becomes noticeably present towards the end of the cigar, surely leaving a lasting memory for aficionados.

In the USA, there is also a stronger, more extreme version: Untamed Extreme! During a meeting at the US cigar trade show IPCPR, we inquired with the German importer Arnold André and initiated the import of this variant to Germany.
