PDR 1975 Privada Rosado

These cigars first reached us in early summer 2026, initially in just one vitola: a classic Robusto with a 52 ring gauge. The A. Flores 1975 Serie Privada Rosado is the personal signature line of Abraham “Abe” Flores, combining the craftsmanship of one of the Dominican Republic’s most renowned master blenders. These handmade premium cigars are aimed at aficionados who appreciate balanced flavors and a harmonious progression throughout the smoke. A defining feature is the Ecuador H2000 Rosado wrapper with its reddish hue, which gives these long-fillers both an elegant appearance and a complex flavor profile. Delicate spice, subtle sweetness, and a smooth balance make these cigars appealing companions for a wide range of smoking occasions. Fortunately, while writing this text, I had the opportunity to light up an SP 52 Robusto myself – I love my job! Or, to put it another way: “I haven’t worked a single day in my life.” Interestingly, a fellow industry participant made the same remark last week. For understandable reasons, I cannot mention his name. As the owner of a family business, he is a major player in the international tobacco industry and light-years ahead of us in terms of market significance. On that point, we quickly found common ground and exchanged knowing smiles.

A. Flores Privada Rosado – the Signature Line of an Experienced Master Blender

Abraham “Abe” Flores was born in New York but spent an influential part of his youth with his grandfather in the Dominican Republic, where he was introduced to tobacco cultivation at an early age. After working in marketing and the software industry, he founded the PDR brand in 2004, a name that pays tribute to Cuba’s famous tobacco-growing region of Pinar del Río. PDR cigars are produced in Tamboril, the heart of the Dominican cigar industry just outside Santiago de los Caballeros. There, Abe relies on traditional production methods and carefully selected tobaccos, factors that have helped make PDR and today’s A. Flores cigars internationally recognized.

Rosado Cigars with Balanced Spice and Natural Sweetness

The 1975 Privada Rosado cigars, including my test sample, open with notes of cedar wood and roasted nuts, accompanied by a refined and pleasantly integrated spice. As the smoke develops, a natural sweetness emerges, pairing beautifully with the Dominican H2000 and Corojo tobaccos used in the filler. The Ecuador H2000 Rosado wrapper adds further depth and an elegant structure to the blend. The binder is a Dominican H2000 leaf. The Robusto remains medium-bodied and well-balanced right down to the final draw. These are premium cigars from the Dominican Republic with layered flavors and the unmistakable signature of Abraham Flores.
