Vegas de Santiago D8 Maduro

The cigars from Vegas de Santiago have been available from us since 2012. Initially, we imported them directly, as we already had direct contact with the manufacturer Marc Niehaus at the time, and both he and his cigars were very likeable to us! The classic D8 cigars continue to be the absolute bestsellers of this brand in Germany. It was therefore only logical that in spring 2026 the dark Vegas de Santiago D8 Maduro from the small boutique manufactory in Costa Rica was introduced. All cigars of this popular brand have been distributed in Germany by the Swabian Werner Casagranda since around 2020. In addition to those presented here, he is also responsible for Horacio cigars.

Vegas de Santiago D8: Craftsmanship From Costa Rica

This significantly darker, more aromatically intense variant of the classic D8 cigars is made with an Ecuadorian H-2000 Maduro wrapper and a binder from Ecuador. The filler blend consists of tobaccos from Peru and Costa Rica. This gives the smoke additional roasted aromas and a subtle sweetness, while preserving the proven harmonious balance of the series. This medium-bodied cigar is ideal for aficionados who appreciate both depth and finesse. Initial tastings of the D8 Maduro in-house revealed a pleasant cold draw and a creamy, well-balanced smoking profile with roasted aromas and delicate sweetness. The vitolas Robusto and Wide Churchill offer different smoking durations without altering the characteristic flavor profile of the D8 Maduro. Personally, I prefer the classic D8, as it smokes a bit milder and more harmoniously – but as always, that is purely a matter of taste and certainly very subjective!

Flavor & Tasting of the D8 Maduro

The D8 series is the result of decades of experience by the Swiss-Costa Rican family Niehaus. Production is carried out by the Olman Leon Guzman family at their Tabacalera Tabacos de Costa Rica. They oversee tobacco sourcing and production, while Marc Niehaus is responsible for international distribution and marketing. The D8 series enjoys international recognition and impresses with consistently high quality.
