Gurkha Ghost Connecticut

This is the third cigar line within the Gurkha Ghost range. It first arrived in January 2024 after being unveiled at the PCA trade show in Las Vegas in the summer of 2023. These cigars are rolled at Abraham Flores' PDR cigar factory using an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. A Mexican binder is paired with a filler blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and American tobaccos. Abe Flores has been producing cigars for renowned manufacturers for many years. His own PDR cigars, distributed in Germany by Kopp Tobaccos, continue to grow steadily in popularity. The Ghost Connecticut is by far the mildest member of the family to date. The classic Gurkha Ghost cigars are fuller-bodied and impress with a subtle sweetness, while the Gurkha Ghost Gold cigars are also stronger and display more earthy, peppery notes than the cigars presented here.

Gurkha Ghost Connecticut: the New, Gentle Line From the Legendary Brand

Gurkha cigars are widely known for their distinctive names, boxes, and blends. Kaizad Hansotia, an Indian-born entrepreneur, revived the brand in the early 1990s. The name is derived from the Nepalese warriors of the 19th century—"Gorkha" was the original name of Nepal. These warriors fought alongside the British on the Indian subcontinent. Although the boxes used here are made of cardboard, they still convey a premium look and feel. While some aficionados criticize the brand's strong emphasis on visual presentation, it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

a Smooth Smoking Experience: the Gurkha Ghost Connecticut Introduced in 2024

During the first and second thirds, the Gurkha Ghost Connecticut delivers the ideal experience of a smooth and easy-going cigar, perfect for relaxed enjoyment. Its profile is rather mild, accented by a delicate hint of pepper that leaves a pleasant tingle on the palate. In the final third, the intensity increases, bringing greater flavor and complexity. This progression is not always perfectly balanced, but it adds welcome variety and keeps the cigar from becoming monotonous. Overall construction is excellent. Unfortunately, my sample burned somewhat unevenly and required two touch-ups.
