Balmoral Anejo XO Connecticut

These light Balmoral Anejo XO Connecticut cigars are the third line within the prestigious XO cigars by Agio. In the meantime, a fourth line named Balmoral Anejo XO Nicaragua has been added. The first, called Anejo XO, was introduced in 2012 and has developed very well since then. It was followed by the somewhat stronger Anejo XO Oscuro on the German market. Admittedly, we were also skeptical at the beginning whether the “venture” of the Wintermans family (owners of Agio Cigars) into premium longfillers would be successful. As originally primarily cigarillo manufacturers, the Wintermans naturally have extensive knowledge of tobacco, but initially had little expertise in the production of exclusive longfiller cigars.

Balmoral Anejo XO Connecticut: The Refinement Of The XO Series

Of course, classic Balmoral cigars have been around for a long time. These Royal Selection Claro, Maduro, and Reserva have been produced for decades, but were completely discontinued in the early 2020s after the family business was acquired by the tobacco group STG. Now, a few years later, no one doubts this expertise in exclusive longfillers anymore!

In addition to the exclusive XO's and the Royal Selections, the more affordable San Pedro de Marcoris cigars (incidentally the name of the city where the Royal Agio Cigars factory is located) also come from the Agio factory in the Dominican Republic. The cigars presented here are rolled with a US Connecticut wrapper from the Connecticut Valley as the wrapper. The binder is a Sumatra from Ecuador, and the blend in the filler is a mild mix of Brazilian Mata Norte, an Olor from the Dominican Republic, and a Pennsylvania from the USA.

From Cigarillos To Premium Longfillers: The Balmoral Anejo XO Connecticut

According to Boris Wintermans, the current CEO of Royal Agio Cigars, the Balmoral Anejo XO Connecticut was blended to offer a creamy taste experience with a refined, sweet foundation of complex vanilla notes, toasted caramel, and a hint of pepper.
