Antigua Esteli: One Brand, Many Names, One Delight
Art Garcia is the man behind the brand. He founded the label in 2016. Three years later, they made their debut in Germany at InterTabac.
In the meantime, Antigua Esteli became involved in a naming dispute. In the United States, the cigars are therefore marketed under the name Segovias de Esteli. However, here they remain known as Antigua Esteli.
The World of Antigua Esteli Cigars
The Antigua Esteli brand was founded in 2016 by Art Garcia and presented at the IPCPR in Las Vegas. The name refers to the tobacco-growing region of Nueva Segovia in Nicaragua. The tagline “El Diamante de las Segovias” highlights the quality of the cigars.
In 2019, they were presented at InterTabac in Germany and imported by Woermann Cigars. Two series with two formats each were introduced: Oscuro (Robusto, Torpedo) featuring Ecuadorian Sungrown wrappers and Maduro (Toro, Robusto) with Mexican San Andrés wrappers. Both use 100% Nicaraguan tobacco.
Antigua Esteli: Rediscovering Old Esteli
Antigua does not refer to the Caribbean island but rather means “old” in the sense of “antique” in Spanish. Old Esteli, therefore, named after the cigar capital of Nicaragua. This city is located in the province of Nueva Segovia. And Segovia is also the name of the cigar line available here. Thus, the circle of many names for Antigua Esteli is complete.
