Artista Cigars Factory Classics

In 1956, Ramón “Pulita” Rodriguez transformed a warehouse in Cibao in the Dominican Republic into a tabacalera for the production of cigars. Around sixty years later, it has developed into a thriving cigar-producing company. Tobacco plants grow on approximately 500 hectares of its own plantations, which are crafted by its torcedores into high-quality Dominican cigars. The family has now been producing cigars for three generations at Tabacalera Artista Cigars.

Artista Cigars: Three Generations of Cigar Craftsmanship from the Dominican Republic

In this Factory Classics category, the two lines of cigars from Exactus as well as the Pulita cigars and the Puro Ambar are presented.

  • The wrapper of the Exactus Maduro is a three-year-aged Dominican Maduro, while the binder is also a Dominican Criollo 98, aged in wine barrels. The filler consists once again of Criollo 98 from the Dominican Republic with some U.S. Pennsylvania tobacco.
  • For the light Exactus Connecticut, the wrapper is a Connecticut from Ecuador, while a Dominican Criollo is used as the binder. The filler is also made entirely of Dominican Criollo.
  • The Puro Ambar is a further development of the original Puro Ambar, now offering even more aroma and strength to win over aficionados. The filler uses long-aged Criollo ‘98 and a proprietary 1900 tobacco. A special Criollo ‘98, fermented with a touch of wine, is used as the binder. The finishing touch is a so-called T13 from Ecuador as the wrapper. This special treatment of the binder results in a particularly fruity and aromatic base character.

Exactus and Puro Ambar: Exclusive Cigar Lines from Artista Cigars

All three Exactus cigar lines available in Germany, as well as the Puro Ambar cigars, are imported and distributed by Kleinlagel from Bruchsal. At the market launch in 2017, the Gran Toro was initially introduced, followed in 2018 by the Short Robusto. When the Exactus launched in autumn 2017, two vitolas were first imported: the classic Robusto in a box of 20 and the gigantic Super Coloso with its massive 90 ring gauge and a length of 11 inches. In the images in our shop, the size ratios between the different cigars are automatically calculated. Due to the size of the Super Coloso, the Robusto therefore appears quite small.

All cigars from Artista Cigars can be found here! Ram, the owner and managing director, reorganized his company in 2022 and, in the process, simply changed El Artista to Artista Cigars. This serves as an explanation in case some aficionados no longer find the cigars where they were used to.
