Humidor David Holland

Difficult cigar to rate. It has a medium-bodied and nice flavor. However, after having smoked half the cigar the taste became overtly bitter, which I did not like. Of course, this is a common phenomenon with almost every cigar when having smoked 2/3rd of it, but here it was present too soon, causing it to be overpriced in my view.

I have smoked only one piece of this cigar and was probably unlucky as the draw was a bit tight. It has a smooth medium flavor and is good for daytime smoking.

Of course, this is the 'famous' Montecristo. I have smoked two of them now and I am not very impressed to say the least. The ones I have smoked and which were bought in different stores, were both awefully rolled (too tight). This appears to be a general problem with the No. 2, since I have heard it from different people. Yet, it is astonishing given the price of the cigar and its flagship status. Besides, and although it is all a matter of taste, the taste of this cigar appears simply too light for me (but this may also be a result of the drunken ;-)rollers). What I was able to taste points to a distinctive flavor though; earthy and nuts tones. It's diameter is perfect (for me). However, as a result of my experiences I would not recommend it. There are two more samples in my humidor which a leave there for one more year to ripe. If they are bad as well, it will be the end of the story.

Ths Macanudo was a bit of a disappointment. It was very light and too mild. The puff and draught were below par. Yet, it might be that this one was poorly rolled (too tight), so I should try another one soon.
