This is a very interesting cigar. Quesada is trying to capture the spirit of Oktoberfest in a cigar, and they seem to have managed to do that. The cigar starts off very salty, both cold and at first light. That quickly gives way to a bready flavour, with some hints of sweetness and sourness, but the salt lingering on the tongue and lips. This is the flavour throughout the rest of the stick, which by the way, mine lasted for 2 hours and 10 minutes! The flavour profile is very strange, until you put it all together that is. This cigar is meant to taste like a pretzel, and it does too! It pairs perfect with a nice Oktoberfest Beer, and the flavours aren't complex enough that you need to concentrate on it. Take this to the Biergarden and enjoy it with some good friends around to keep you company. Construction is flawless, perfect draw, perfect burn, flavours consistent but good throughout. I'll give this one a 91/100.

Excellent construction, beautiful smooth, brownish red wrapper, fantastic cold aromas. Smoke time, 80 minutes. No burn issues, but the end may need a second clipping halfway in to loosen up the draw after it becomes clogged with tar. First 1/4 has a leather a cedar core with slightly sweet flavours. As the first quarter progresses, flavours of spices like nutmeg and cinnamon join the mix. 2nd quarter: roughly the same, but with added flavours of anise. Third quarter: the flavours switch sides, with the leather/cedar core heading to the background, and the spice flavours taking centre stage. Fourth quarter: Big surprise in the final bits. The spice disappears and sweet honeysuckle comes to the forefront, with lots of flowery notes. A wonderful finish. This is probably the most flavourful and enjoyable cigar I have sampled to date. Will definitely buy again after exploring the rest of the Cuaba line-up. 93/100

Cold, this cigar smells wonderful. Cedar and leather notes abound in this very attractive cigar. This cigar had a lot of burn problems, with tunneling, angled burn, and frequently went out. Tastes were predominately leather and cedar, with hints of coffee. At one point I noted some very nice floral aromas, but these went away quickly after needing to re-light for the third time. Smoke time, 90 minutes. Rating, 80/100. Probably won't buy again.

As a double figurado goes, this had all of the usual problems with burning, but none of them terribly serious. Flavour at the beginning was VERY harsh with pepper, but that gave way quickly to a wonderful, sweet cream aroma, which then gave way to creamy leather. THe leather stayed throughout with frequent hints of cinnamon, cream, white pepper, nuts, grass, and aged tobacco. Final third was nutty with leather. Smoke time was 45-50 minutes. This was an extremely interesting cigar, which I would gladly smoke again. Ash holds well, white to light grey. Minor touch-ups to the burn necessary to keep it in check, but that is expected in this vitola. 88/100, and an excellent price/quality ratio.

Smoked after a month and a half in my humidor. 90+ minute smoke duration. Perfect construction and burn. Tastes are somewhat harsh and one-dimensional. Flavours of leather throughout, with some pepper at the beginning, light sweet cream and some hints of coffee. Slight ammonia flavour. This is obviously a very young cigar with no aging (hence Fresco). Buying in a bundle and letting age for a few years might make this cigar absolutely worth it if you have the space to spare, but if you want to smoke it within a year of buying it, look elsewhere.

This was a very interesting smoke. The appearance is average, not the most beautiful cigar, but also not an ugly one. Wrapper is smooth. Smoked with a friend. Mine was rolled very, very tightly and I couldn't get a good draw. Smoke volume was low. My friend's was a bit better, so there are some consistency issues. Flavours started out with some delightful floral notes with a bit of nut, but mostly toasted bread. It was very nice. In the second third, the floral notes diminished and it went to a toast core with some nutty undertones. In the last third, the pleasant toast aroma turned to a burnt toast aroma, but at least the draw had opened up a bit. Need to try again to see what it's like without the draw issues. For the price, it is a pretty good cigar and might replace Quintero Favoritos as my go-to, cheap Cuban. Smoke time was about 70 minutes. Needed re-lit once, but an even burn the whole way. 84/100, but would be an 87 or 88 if the draw were better.

Very fast burner with a 45 minute burn time smoking at a slow pace. Flavours are very woody and peppery with some occasional caramel and toast notes. Best in the last 1/4. Burn and draw were perfect. Overall, 82/100. Not my flavour profile, so I won't be buying again, but if you're into these flavours, give it a try.

Nicely constructed, attractive wrapper and band. Good draw, but slightly loose. Very high smoke output and perfect burn. 45 minute smoke duration. Very one dimensional flavour profile. It is a light-medium bodied smoke with little flavour. Nuts and cream throughout. Smoke texture is very smooth. Toward the nub it becomes bitter and unpleasant. No real changes throughout. I suppose this makes an alright breakfast smoke with a coffee, but not worth €6.50. Taste is very similar to Perdomo Fresco, although you can tell that the Lot 23 has been aged longer. If these are flavours you like, you're better off buying the Fresco Connecticut line and aging them a year or so. 85/100.

Smoke time about 60 minutes. A very pleasant smoke with complex flavours. Slight wrapper problems upon cutting. Smoked in an unfortunately busy setting and could not enjoy it to its full potential. Will need to smoke another in a peaceful setting to fully assess, but overall an excellent smoke. Churchill format was 2011 Cigar of the Year in CA. Probably go for that next time. 91/100

A long discontinued machine made Cuban. For the price, they are hard to pass up. They aren't the prettiest cigars, and yes, they are shortfiller, but the nearly 15 years they have on them has made it a VERY nice smoke. It tastes of very good, aged tobacco, and I have had younger, but much more expensive Cubans that I would pass over for this cigar. Keep some around for those occasions where you want something nice, but don't want to smoke an expensive cigar, like after you've had 4 or 5 beers and won't really enjoy a Cohiba they way you should. It won't break the bank, and 10 of them in your humidor won't take up much space. These won't be around forever either, so get some while you can. 40 minute smoke, and for the record, these are not wrapped in cedar. 87/100

A fine Cuban at a fine price. These are very well constructed and have an excellent flavour profile. Very floral with some of the classic grass and leather flavours of Cuba. I will probably always keep some of these in my humidor. 40 minute smoke duration. 89/100

A well made cigar for a low price. Pretty classic Cuban flavours of grass and leather with a pleasant, creamy smoke. Ash holds very well for being a medium filler cigar. This cigar has a permanent home in my humidor as a cigar for all occasions, and one that I can share with friends who don't often smoke, to give them the real Cuban experience. 87/100 without considering the price factor.

Purchased early May 2014, smoked first late July 2014. Cold smell gives a hay and barnyard aroma. Draw is perfect. Well rolled and no major quality issues. I found the flavour very light and simple. The cigar tasted predominately of hay/grass, with some pepper notes, particularly in the final third, and some hints of coffee throughout. Smoke duration was around 45 minutes, a rather fast burner, and the ash does not hold well at all. First drop after about 3cm, then at 2cm, then again after 3cm. 9 more in the humidor, probably won't buy again after that, but also not a bad smoke. 82/100

Unfortunately, the flavour wheel doesn't have a category for the true flavour of this cigar: Tobacco. This is a delicious, simple, one dimensional cigar that I would gladly smoke almost any time. Smoke duration is long for the size, at about 40-45 minutes, although I smoked it to an absolute nub, but did so because the cigar is that good. A delicious Honduran Puro. Villa Zamorano will always have a place, in some format, in my humidor. 90/100

Dark chocolate coloured wrapper, slightly veiny, slightly toothy, but a good looking cigar with a good weight. Wrapper issues upon cutting, but nothing major. Cold smell was light chocolatey tobacco. Cold draw gave no discerning aromas. Draw was light, perhaps a better candidate for a punch or v-cutter. Lit easily and immediately gave off a wonderful taste of chocolate, coffee, and nuts. This taste lasted through the halfway point, when the flavours switched to a peppery toast with the chocolate and coffee undertones ever so slightly there. Final bit was nutty and peppery. Smoke plume was very thick and the smoke texture was creamy and pleasant. Light required touching up twice due to tunneling. Burn time 80 minutes. Dark grey ash, holds tight and well, but this may have contributed to the tunneling. I would suggest keeping no more than 3cm ash on this cigar. Medium to full bodied. The first half of this cigar was very, very good. The second half less so. With the burn and wrapper issues, I will give this cigar and 83/100. For 2.90 per stick, can't expect a whole lot more.
