Brazil Trüllerie

The Brazil Trüllerie Cigarillos from the August Schuster manufactory in Bünde have a very long tradition. This old brand had already disappeared from the market before it was revived by the long-established family business from Bünde.

Not only are Brazilian tobaccos used, but also a precisely defined blend of Brasil and Havana tobaccos of the highest quality. The finest filler blends for the bunch, sourced from Mata Fina and Mata Norte in Brazil, as well as from the Cuban regions of Remedios and Vuelta Abajo, are processed. This, combined with the world's most expensive wrapper leaf, Mata Fina, makes a real difference. It is what defines the uniqueness of the Brazil Trüllerie. Its characteristic aromas range from the typically Brazilian to the smooth and rich qualities of Cuban tobacco, and to the universally loved and well-known Brazilian spiciness.

The History of the August Schuster Cigar Factory in Bünde

In 1909, August Schuster became self-employed with a cigar manufacturing business in Germany's then cigar capital, Bünde in Westphalia. His son, Hans Schuster, took over the cigar manufactory in 1953 and managed the company until 1983.

Until 2023, the two brothers Manfred and Philipp Schuster led the company. Committed to the traditions of their ancestors, they relied solely on top quality, both for their own products and for imported longfillers (cigars hand-rolled from whole leaves). Only products made from 100% tobacco leave the manufactory in Bünde. The next generation, in the form of Manfred's son Oliver and Philipp's son Hans-Martin as well as his daughter Annemarie, had already been on board for many years and officially took over the business on January 1, 2024.

As a small curiosity, instead of a factory listing, the public telephone directory only shows the name "August Schuster," along with a mere four(!)-digit number. This must date back to the time when the switchboard operator manually connected calls!

The brands produced in-house by the August Schuster manufactory, such as Cardenal Mendoza, Lepanto, and especially Partageno, hold a firm place on the shelves of German cigar shops. The same applies to imported, yet still exclusive brands like Casa de Torres, Maria Mancini, and Rodrigo de Jerez. These are all fairly priced, high-quality premium cigars of Caribbean origin.

The Success Story of the August Schuster Cigar Manufactory

Under the leadership of Manfred and Philipp Schuster, this traditional manufactory from Bünde has always stood for exceptional enjoyment and consistently high quality. Added to this is Philipp Schuster's significant commitment to the industry. His tireless fight against political restrictions and regulations on cigars deserves extraordinary respect.

In the past, many wealthy manufacturing families lived in Bünde. Once the center for cigars in Germany, it was a highly profitable business. Although Bünde is still known as a cigar city, only one manufactory still produces cigars here: August Schuster.

The only other remaining manufacturer, Arnold Andre, no longer produces locally but has retained only an administrative office on site. Since its founding, the company has survived difficult times and undergone significant structural changes. A large part of the private labels sold in renowned German tobacco shops is produced here in Bünde by Schuster. Although their own production is largely machine-based, a surprisingly large portion of these products still involves manual craftsmanship.
